Battlestar Galactica 3.02: Precipice
Written by: Ronald D Moore

Starring: D’Anna Biers, Michael Trucco, Richard Hatch
The One Where: Starbuck gets a daughter!
The Cylons draw
up a long list of suspected
insurgents, then put a gun to
Baltar’s head, forcing him to
authorise their executions.
Leoben brings Starbuck a gift… a
little girl, Casey. He says they
salvaged Kara’s ovary from the
breeding farm (in 2.5), and Casey
is her daughter! She refuses to
accept the kid, until Casey falls
down the stairs and is hurt…
On Galactica, plans are drawn.
Adama appoints Sharon Agathon
(yes, she married Helo) as their
liaison with the insurgents! By
threatening Saul, the Brother
Cavil Cylon blackmails Ellen Tigh
into supplying details of the
insurgents’ meeting with Sharon.
They walk into an ambush.
The prisoners are driven to the
middle of nowhere and let out
for a “break”. Then robot Cylons
appear and start blasting…
Although there are a
couple of great surprises in this
episode – Casey, the Great
Escape-homaging finale – the
highlights are a fistful of fabulous
face-offs: Baltar discussing the
bombing with Roslin; Roslin
questioning Tigh’s methods;
Apollo telling Adama that his plan
is madness. James Callis’s
performance as the haggard,
tortured Baltar is outstanding.
One nitpick: would the police
be able to keep their identities
secret just by wearing balaclavas?
They’re arresting people they
know. Wouldn’t someone
recognise their voices? Or see
them leaving for work?
Tigh: “We’re on
the side of the demons, Chief.
We’re evil men in the gardens of
paradise, sent by the forces of
death to spread devastation and
destruction wherever we go.”
